On the occasion of the 18th edition of the Gala Premiilor Observator cultural (Romanian cultural journal) rewarding men and women of letters, the OIF Representation for Central and Eastern Europe (REPECO) presented, for the first time , on May 14, 2024, the “Léopold Sédar Senghor” French/Romanian Translation Prize.
The jury, composed of Ion Pop, member of the Romanian Academy, Simona Modreanu, professor of French language at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi and Despina Jderu, professor-researcher at the Universities of Bucharest and Friborg (Switzerland) , has decided to reward Rodica Baconsky and Alina Pellea for their translation of Monique Proulx’s work “Enlève la nuit”, Prix des 5 continents 2023, published in Romanian by Casa Cartii de Stiinta.
The creation of this prize is part of the OIF’s action to promote linguistic diversity. It aims to make French-speaking literature better known to the Romanian-speaking public.
