‘Chinatown’ writer Robert Towne dies aged 89

The Oscar-winning screenplay writer was a leading figure of the 1970s New Hollywood movement. Hs work on ‘Chinatown’ became a model of the art form and helped define the jaded allure of his native Los Angeles.
